Joining a fraternity means a much higher level of involvement in campus and community life. The unforgettable social events, competing on an intramural team or the mutual rewards from completing a service project with others make fraternity life enriching. Fraternity life also offers the chance for self-development, allowing each individual’s talents and abilities to be improved and used to their potential, benefiting themselves and the brotherhood. Because the fraternity is structured as an organization, opportunities for leadership are available for those who seek it. Last and most importantly, the fraternity can provide its members a humanizing experience in a world of crowds and masses. Does it take a lot of time being in a fraternity? During pledging, pledges are required to attend meetings, functions and any other activities that are required by the fraternity. Pledges are also assigned individual and team projects to be completed. Pledging in general will take a lot of time, and during the process, pledges will develop time management skills in order to balance Academics, Pledge/Fraternity duties and a social life. While in the fraternity, actives are bound to meetings and fraternity programming which include social functions such as exchanges, parties, Greek events and required duties such as philanthropy events and various leadership workshops. Does it mean I have to give up my friends if I join a fraternity? No, all brothers still have the friends they’ve made before joining the fraternity.
